A reform of Belgian company law came into effect on 1 November. Here’s a quick overview of the changes. Firstly, company law is now incorporated into the Code of Economic Law. Secondly, the concepts of ‘commercial company’ and ‘non-commercial company’ have disappeared, to be replaced by that of enterprise subject to registration. In addition, the commercial court is now known as the business court (tribunal de l’entreprise/ondernemingsrechtbank). Finally, the concept of ‘civil company’ has been replaced by a neutral legal form. All these changes (among others) have implications for registering with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (CBE).
